I… have boots sort of like that, ahaha. I was actually going to make this costume at one point, so that’s why I have a lot of good ref pictures of it. But then I decided that it looked too frustrating, and I’m not a sewing wizard anyway. But if it helps, my friend and I decided it was some kind of magical velvet that never gets cat hairs stuck to it.

Apparently, or according to Paul at least, it was thanks to Gareth that he ended up wearing so much leather/those infamous hooker boots:

I made a mental note to bash Gareth. It was all his fault! As it happened, leather is the most comfortable stuff to wear, and if you’re filming during winter, it’s very warm. If you’re out in Betchworth Quarry in the middle of November, it’s wonderful, and it stretches and it’s comfortable. So in the end I was quite happy. I was, however, a little reluctant to wear the thigh-length boots.”
